Tyson 21 Months

This sweet but crazy boy of ours is 21 months old now! I couldn't go on without documenting some of the adorable things he does and says.

This was when he was bit by a mosquito and his whole eye swelled up!

Tyson is all boy. He loves getting dirty, throwing giant rocks, running around chasing girls, and pushing trucks around on the floor. He loves any water and I have to keep him out of jumping in water anywhere.
He is learning to speak new words every day and is putting them into phrases. He usually calls Kayla 'Ka' but is starting to now call her Kayla. When he is asked a question and answers in the affirmative, he says 'Unh uh' which sounds like no, but it means yes. I've been working on getting him to say 'yes' instead but its so cute! He calls cereal 'EeO' but thats also what he says when he wants to be picked up. He loves seeing airplanes in the sky but calls them Bearplanes. He calls Aunt Haley 'Wayway'. When he wants to climb up on something, he says 'Bup!' When he says slide he rolls his tongue twice on the 'L' like 'slililide'. He calls his binky 'binty', which we're working on getting rid of. He only gets it when he's sleeping in his crib.

He's already asking lots of questions. When we tell him to do something, he'll sweetly ask 'Why?' When Kayla says 'OK, Tyson?' He answers, K! If he doesn't hear something or doesn't understand something, he asks 'What?' I find it so awesome that he uses all these words correctly and in context! When he accomplishes something, he'll say to himself 'Got it!'

He loves eating and is still quite good at it! Some of his favorite foods currently are yogurt, strawberries, watermelon, apple slices, string cheese, peanut butter sandwiches, and chicken nuggets. When he has cereal in the morning, he always has his milk sitting there, but asks for milk in the cereal and then drinks the milk with the cereal still in the bowl and then wants more milk! He refused to sit in the high chair a few months ago, and now would rather not be in his booster seat.

He loves a thrill and wants to go down any slide he sees, no matter how high. He seems to love heights, climbing anything he can get to, and swinging on the big swings. He loves to bounce on trampolines, roll in the grass, and rocks seem to be his favorite thing to play with outside. Whenever he throws rocks or balls, he lifts it up behind his head and holds it against his head. The back of his head is often dirty or muddy.

He loves tires and will stop to study the rims and grills on cars in every parking lot. We took him swimming a couple weeks ago with his puddle jumpers on and he jumped right in and knew how to stay upright and swim like he'd been doing it forever.

When we sing songs with Kayla before bed, his usual requests are Popcorn Popping, Book of Mormon Stories, Bingo (he calls it Name O and it took me forever to realize what he was asking for) I am a Child of God, and the Kayla song. If it's just me and him, I'll ask him what song he wants and he'll sweetly and thoughtfully say, "Um...."and then answer. It is so cute!

His favorite book by far is a truck book. He grabs it first every time we're reading books. His other favorite book is the musical Wheels on the Bus book. He also loves a few Mickey Mouse books that we have and calls Mickey 'Mouse'. He has a bad habit of bending books the wrong way and tearing pages still though and it makes me crazy.

He loves his daddy so much! He got spoiled while Brett was on vacation with us for a week and cries for him whenever he's sad. He has a glow worm in his crib that plays music and Tyson calls it his baby. He also loves to sleep with his Elmo doll.
We went fishing with my cousins this weekend, and when they caught a fish, Tyson ran right up and grabbed it! He also loves the animals at Bear World in the petting zoo! He loves to make all the animal sounds when we ask him and also knows all his body parts.

We have a picture book of kids first 100 words and Tyson knows almost every word in the book. He's a rough and tumble type kid. He runs around, falls down, scrapes up his knees, hops up and keeps on going. I never know he's injured until I see the bruises or scrapes later on. Not much makes him cry in the way of injuries.

He definitely isn't perfect though! He constantly gets into the fridge and has broken two fridge locks. He started hitting Kayla. Luckily its not hard, but it still causes hysterics. He even bit me and Kayla both this weekend. I kind of freaked and screamed when he did it (it really hurt!)and he hasn't done it since, but I doubt its the end of it. He also doesn't like nursery. He finally got used to it when our ward split and now has a hard time again. Its also right during nap time, so he's often tired and grumpy during nursery, making it even harder. He also screams like a baby dinosaur when he's upset or if he's hungry. Its a horrible sound!!

Even with his flaws, I still love the crap out of this kid! He makes me so happy! I love spending one on one time with him while Kayla is in preschool since I haven't done that much. He gives the best kisses and will kiss one cheek and then the other over and over. He loves Kayla and is sad when she's gone and excited to see her when we pick her up. He plays so well on his own and is often just content. He is a joy in our home and in our family! We sure love our little Buddy Buddy!
