Easter has come and gone. It was a great holiday for our little family! Lots of fun, candy, and spiritual uplifting experiences. It was Tyson's first Easter and he was his adorable happy self through it all. It was Kayla's third Easter, but definitely the most fun for us with her. She really got into the whole egg hunt idea and had a blast! She actually refers to Easter as party because the two words were associated together a lot the past couple weeks. :)
Our first event was the ward Easter party. Kayla had a blast and all the older kids were more than happy to share their spoils and show Kayla the ropes.
The Monday before Easter, we colored eggs for FHE. Because doing things with toddlers isn't the easiest thing in the world, we skipped on the fancy coloring and just stuck to dying them. Kayla thought it was amazing that we could make colored eggs! She loved dropping the eggs into the cups of color.
Amazingly, we only had two cracked eggs out of the bunch! My face expresses how I felt through most of this process. :)
We are a part of a great little play group here. My good friend organized another egg hunt/potluck for this group and again, it was a blast. We had it at a park and Kayla just thought it was the best day ever. For the longest time, she was nervous about swinging or going down slides alone so I had to go with her on the playgrounds, which was harder with Tyson. Just recently, she decided she was brave and will now spend as long as I will let her going up the stairs, down the slides, repeat. After the egg hunt, she spent over an hour on the playground with the other kids while I chatted with some great friends! It was such a great day!
Turns out, palm trees make excellent egg hiding surfaces. Who knew?
Kayla and Kali, baby BFF's!
The Easter bunny came and left some fun stuff for the kids. I actually was able to recycle some old toys that haven't been utilized for awhile, especially for Tyson, so it was pretty easy to do! Grandma Betsy got some new outfits for the kids, which they both looked adorable in!
Easter morning! You can see the chocolate in Kayla's mouth after our little egg hunt around the house, despite our directions to wait until after breakfast before opening the eggs. :)
We got Kayla dressed up in her new dress, despite the fact that we didn't have church, due to General Conference. We then pointed out the trail of jelly beans leading out to the back porch. Kayla's eyes got pretty big when we told her the Easter bunny had left a trail to let her know there were more eggs outside. We also had Cascarones out there for her to find. Cascarones are a Mexican Easter tradition. They are real eggs that have a hole poked in them, are drained, dried out, filled with confetti and then painted. They are sold on every corner around here for the week before Easter. When we cracked the first ones on each other's heads, she looked alarmed. We then cracked one of her head and she was quite traumatized!! It took a couple minutes, but soon she was all about the confetti filled eggs. She soon had a blast cracking them on both mommy and daddy's heads.
She was quite excited to find the last two eggs hidden in her scooter. She was impressed the Easter bunny would think to hide them there. :)
Tyson looked so handsome in his new Easter outfit. This chunky kid is now wearing some 9-12 month clothes but they're much too long, hence the rolled pants. :)
Brett insisted we buy peeps even though I think they're nasty and he doesn't like them either but they're just so festive! Tyson thought they looked amazing and kept grabbing the box and chewing on them. I think he may be getting ready to start eating food, haha!
Tyson's been giving kisses lately, and I sure love them!
We snapped this family selfie just before Brett walked out the door and seconds after Kayla woke up from her nap. I really wanted a family photo. :)
Brett had to work that afternoon, as he does every Sunday. I had envisioned taking beautiful photos of the kids, but without him to help, it was a little rough, so a few cute snapshots on the couch will have to suffice. I sure love these two munchkins! Don't mind Tyson's drool covered shirt.
One of the cutest photos of them both was before I decided to re-do Kayla's hair after her nap for the photos.
I love snuggling and cuddling this guy! He already has the sweetest disposition. I look forward to watching his personality show more and more He's the perfect addition to our family!
A fun little perk to Brett's job is that sometimes the Channel 4 viewers get a treat when they share pictures of our adorable children. Kayla was featured on the show on Sunday.
After a long, fun filled few days, it was nice to sit and reflect on what Easter really means. I truly am forever indebted to my Savior for His life, His Atonement, His death, and His Resurrection! He overcame death and every sorrow we will ever know! I'm so grateful to have the Prophet and Apostles to help us understand this great gift of our Savior. I have a testimony that HE Lives and that He loves me. The world was forever changed and every one of us will live again, thanks to the Savior.
Happy Easter from our family to yours!
